1.This agreement
These Terms & Conditions are an agreement between you and Consortium e-Learning Network Pvt. Ltd. (“we”, “us”), the operator of RevuMate AI. They govern your access to and use of the platform, including the reviewer portal and the editorial console.
By creating an account, signing in, or using the platform in any way, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the platform.
Three other documents form part of this agreement and are incorporated into it:
- Privacy Policy — how we handle personal data.
- Peer Review & Editorial Policy — how review is run.
- Reviewer Guidelines — what we ask of a reviewer.
Where you use the platform as a member of an institution’s or publisher’s staff, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on that organisation’s behalf as well as your own.
2.Access to the platform
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use RevuMate AI for its intended purpose: submitting, reviewing and managing scholarly manuscripts for the journals it serves. We reserve every right not expressly granted.
You may not:
- Exploit the platform commercially, resell access to it, or use it for any purpose other than the one above.
- Copy, reproduce, distribute or publicly display any part of it.
- Modify, translate, adapt, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, or attempt to derive its source code.
- Use it to build, train or inform a competing product or service.
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notice.
We may change, suspend or discontinue the platform, or any part of it, with or without notice to you. Where a change materially reduces functionality you rely on, we will give reasonable notice.
3.Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. Accounts are for named individuals.
- Register with accurate information. Your name, email, affiliation and country must be true and kept up to date. Editors rely on them when choosing reviewers, and a false affiliation undermines the integrity of the review process.
- One account per person. Do not create a second account to get around a decision on the first.
- Keep your credentials to yourself. Do not share your password or let anyone else use your account. Tell us at info@stmjournals.com immediately if you think it has been compromised.
- You are responsible for activity under your account unless and until you tell us it has been compromised.
Roles are assigned, not chosen
Public registration creates a reviewer account. Editorial roles — commissioning editor, editorial manager, administrator — are granted by the editorial office and cannot be selected at sign-up. Holding a role gives you access only to the journals and records that role covers; attempting to reach anything else breaches section 5.
4.If you review for us
Reviewing is voluntary and unpaid, as it is throughout scholarly publishing. Registering does not entitle you to receive invitations, and we do not guarantee that any journal will accept your application or that any particular volume of work will follow.
When you accept an invitation you agree to:
- Provide your own independent assessment, and not delegate it without telling the editor.
- Keep the manuscript confidential — not circulating it, not using it, not retaining it after submission, and not putting any part of it into a public AI tool.
- Declare conflicts of interest and decline where one exists.
- Submit by the agreed date, or tell the editor in good time that you cannot.
- Raise suspected misconduct with the editor rather than acting on it yourself.
The Reviewer Guidelines set these out in full and form part of this agreement. Declining an invitation is never a breach of it.
Certificates are a record, not a benefit in kind
Certificates, empanelment letters, tiers, leaderboard standing and rewards recognise work actually completed. They are not consideration for your services, do not create an employment, agency or partnership relationship, and confer no entitlement beyond the document itself. We may change or withdraw the rewards programme at any time; certificates already issued for genuine work are not withdrawn, except where the underlying work is found to have been fabricated.
5.Acceptable use
The platform holds unpublished research and the personal data of researchers. Treat it accordingly. You must not:
- Access, or try to access, any manuscript, review, profile or record your role does not entitle you to see.
- Probe, scan or test the platform’s security, or circumvent any access control, rate limit or authentication mechanism.
- Scrape, bulk-export or systematically harvest reviewer data, manuscript data or any other content.
- Use reviewer contact details for anything other than the review in hand — no marketing, no recruitment, no mailing lists.
- Upload malware, or any file you do not have the right to upload.
- Misrepresent your identity, affiliation or expertise, or impersonate anyone.
- Submit a review that is not your own work, or that was generated by an AI tool rather than written by you.
- Post or transmit anything unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, harmful or deceptive, or send unsolicited bulk messages.
- Interfere with the platform’s operation, or with another user’s use of it.
Security research is welcome if you tell us first. Write to info@stmjournals.com and we will agree a scope; do not test against live data in the meantime.
6.Content and intellectual property
Ours
The platform — its software, interface, text, branding and the names RevuMate AI and Consortium e-Learning Network Pvt. Ltd., together with the imprints shown on this site — belongs to us or our licensors, and is protected by copyright and trade mark law.
Yours
You keep ownership of what you submit: your profile, your CV, your review reports and your messages. You are responsible for your own content, and you confirm you have the right to submit it. By submitting it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and use that material as needed to:
- operate the review process and pass your report to the editor and, anonymised, to the author;
- issue and verify certificates and letters in your name;
- maintain the permanent editorial record of each manuscript;
- show your name, tier and standing on the leaderboard, which you may opt out of.
The licence lasts as long as we need it for those purposes, and survives the closing of your account to the extent the editorial record requires — see section 10 of the Privacy Policy. We will not license your material to third parties for unrelated purposes, publish your report under your name without your agreement, or use your content to train machine learning models.
Manuscripts
Manuscripts and their files belong to their authors. Access to one through this platform is a limited permission for the purpose of review or editorial handling, and it ends when that purpose does.
7.Copyright complaints
We respect the intellectual property of others and expect our users to do the same. If you believe material on the platform infringes your copyright, write to info@stmjournals.com with:
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the work you say has been infringed, and of the material on the platform you say infringes it, with enough detail for us to locate it.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We will investigate and, where a complaint is well founded, remove or disable access to the material and notify whoever posted it. We may terminate the account of a repeat infringer. Knowingly making a false claim of infringement may expose you to liability.
8.Third-party links, services and other users
The platform may contain links to third-party websites and services, and may be integrated with a publisher’s own manuscript-management system. We do not control these, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, practices or availability. Your dealings with them are between you and them, and their terms and privacy policies apply, not ours.
You are solely responsible for your dealings with other users — authors, editors and reviewers. We are not obliged to become involved in a dispute between users, though we will act where our policies have been breached. Where a dispute does arise, you release us from claims arising out of it.
9.Support, availability and changes
We aim to keep the platform available and reliable, but we are under no obligation to provide support, maintenance, updates or new features, and we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance, change features or withdraw them.
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and material changes will be notified to account holders by email or in the platform before taking effect. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the revised terms. A manuscript or review already in progress continues under the terms in force when it started.
You agree we may send you notices electronically, to the email address on your account or by posting them in the platform.
10.Term and termination
By you
Close your account at any time by writing to info@stmjournals.com. We will act on it, within the retention limits described in the Privacy Policy. If you simply want to stop receiving invitations, ask to be marked unavailable instead — it is reversible.
By us
We may suspend or close an account, or remove a reviewer from a panel, where:
- these terms, the Peer Review Policy or the Reviewer Guidelines are breached;
- confidentiality is breached, including through use of a public AI tool;
- a conflict of interest was concealed;
- invitations are repeatedly accepted and not delivered;
- registration or profile information proves to be false;
- we are required to by law, or the account is being used unlawfully.
Except where a breach is serious or we are legally constrained, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to answer before closing an account. On closure your access ends and your content may be deleted; the editorial record and certificates already issued remain, and the clauses in sections 6, 11, 12 and 13 survive.
11.Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the platform is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title or non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that AI output, similarity scores or reviewer suggestions are accurate, complete or fit for any particular decision.
- A similarity score is an indicator requiring human interpretation, not a finding of plagiarism.
- We do not guarantee that any application will be accepted, that invitations will follow, or that any specific recognition will be earned.
- We are not responsible for the content of manuscripts, reviews or messages written by users, nor for third-party sites or services.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12.Limitation of liability
Subject to section 11, and to the fullest extent the law allows:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, data, publication opportunity or anticipated savings, however caused.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with this agreement is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or INR 10,000. The platform is provided to reviewers free of charge, so for most users the second limb is the operative one.
- Each party’s liability is reduced to the extent the loss was caused by the other’s own act or omission.
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your content, your infringement of a third party’s rights, or your unlawful use of the platform.
13.Governing law and disputes
This agreement is governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with it.
Where you deal with us as a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law gives you non-excludable rights or a non-excludable forum, nothing in this section removes them.
Before starting proceedings, please raise the matter with us at info@stmjournals.com. Most disputes about handling, decisions or conduct are resolved through the appeals and complaints process in section 11 of the Peer Review Policy, and we would much rather use it.
14.General
- Entire agreement. These terms and the three documents named in section 1 are the whole of what is agreed between us about the platform.
- Severability. If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stands and the clause is read down to the minimum extent necessary.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it.
- Assignment. You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it to a successor to the business or to a journal portfolio, on notice to you.
- No partnership. Nothing here creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship.
- Export and sanctions. You confirm you are not barred from using the platform under any applicable export control or sanctions law.
- Notices. We write to the email address on your account; you write to the address below.
